Minnesota: Red Lake County

Just south of Pennington County, Red Lake County (pop. 4,089), is the third smallest county (by population) in Minnesota.

It’s one of the few counties in the state that does not have a lake, but it does have the Red Lake River. (Upper Red Lake and Lower Red Lake are in Beltrami County, not Red Lake County.)

The Red Lake River flows 193 miles from Lower Red Lake to the Red River.

Red Lake County is the only Minnesota county that has no traffic lights.
